The COVID-19 crisis and the growing popularity of electric vehicles have significantly impacted new vehicle sales over the past few years. While some automakers struggled to adapt, others—such as Hyundai—managed to take full advantage of the situation.
As a result, the Korean automaker is celebrating a fifth consecutive year of record sales with the general public, as well as a third record year for total sales in the Americas.
Steady Growth
Despite a slower end to the year, Hyundai still posted strong growth in 2025, with an 8% increase in sales on the American market. This represents 901,686 vehicles delivered, compared to 836,802 in 2024. Where the brand truly stood out during the final quarter of 2025 was in the hybrid vehicle segment, which saw a sales increase of 52%.
Unsurprisingly, the brand’s most popular models remain the Tucson, Elantra, Santa Fe, and Palisade. However, the model that recorded the largest year-over-year increase compared to 2024 was the Venue.
Appealing Products
One of the key reasons behind Hyundai’s success lies in the automaker’s ability to understand its customer base. The brand offers cutting-edge technology paired with high-end design. Moreover, Hyundai has now become a major player in the performance vehicle segment, both in gasoline-powered and electric vehicles. The Korean manufacturer continues to push the boundaries of luxury, performance, and technology.
Today, Hyundai ranks among the most reliable brands in the industry. The Hyundai Group has also risen to the top in terms of safety, earning the highest number of Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awards across all its brands, according to the IIHS.
In short, the Korean automaker’s rise is clearly no coincidence and is driven by a well-defined strategy and products that meet market expectations.
